My Garden of Hedgehog- Colour Collective and Illustration Friday 27/04/18- Transformation.

A concept that I had been doodling for a while now. I originally imagined the spines being trees, but decided to draw them as flowers in a hedgehog garden for this week’s colour collective. It’s not very refined, I may edit it some more at a later date.

Pinecone Pattern

So I decided to add another pattern to my portfolio- this one's got a slightly wintery feel. My cousin's wedding had a pinecone theme, which was great- I've always loved collecting them on family walks in the autumn/ winter, and love their Nordic feel.

Happy Chinese New Year! The Year of the Rooster

It feels as though it's officially 2017 now! Hurrah! I really love the Chinese Zodiac- it's definitely one of the more culturally romantic aspects of Chinese culture. Roosters, especially, have such vibrant colours- I couldn't resist! This year I'm going to try to procrastinate less, and get everything done!

Sewing up my purses

So I've been making up some more purses from my fabric- this one's a foxy one. I still need to work on the speed of my production, as they're taking about 40 minutes to machine sew, and then a further hour or two to sew the frame onto the body (this does make them extra sturdy though, as opposed to using glue). I'm also struggling with actually SELLING the things, although people do say that they like them, so I'm hoping to start shifting some soon. If anyone's interested, I'm selling them here as well as at events that I go to (the next one will be Granny Would Be Proud at the Hillhead bookclub).
Oh, and there's a Prince's Trust event that I'll be going to soon- I HOPE to get some interest from that. Fingers crossed!

I'm making more political cartoons

Fingers crossed that I'm successful!

I'm playing around with some subjects, both current and slightly outdated- but that I feel are relevant, like the issue of gun violence in the US, which still needs to be addressed! I also have some old Scottish election cartoons that I have to compile- I'm plodding along, but I'll get there!

Thistle, Berry and Heather Pattern

So these past couple of days I've been working on some new pattern ideas- this being one of them. I hope to get at least one more done by the time I have my Cultural Enterprise meeting this week, but everything takes so much time! I am hoping to secure funding so that I can get my patterns and designs printed in bulk and start trying to distribute them.

I am quite happy with how this one turned out, I think it'll make a nice little mug :-) and I'm hoping the little shops that I'm targeting agree! If that fails, I always have Etsy... Wish me luck!

Hedgehog pattern

So, I've been working on a hedgehog pattern for the past couple of days, and here it is! I have quite a few more ideas that I'd like to make a reality, and then HOPEFULLY get a business grant and I'll be able to turn them into some wonderful mugs that HOPEFULLY people will purchase on my Etsy; there's a lot of hopefullys in there. But in all seriousness, I have quite a lot of ideas, and I need to get them all done!

Bridal hair

So I thought that I might as well blog about this :-)
I created it last week, whilst expanding my knowledge of Adobe Illustrator. I taught myself to add textures, and well as working on my skills in fashion illustration. I found the bridal hair styles on Pintrest- which is a GREAT tool, I've come to find; and I created my illustrations inspired by them.

I won a New Blood award :-)

It's only the In Book award (sadly no yellow pencil for me!) But I do believe that I get a nice certificate to go on my wall- which is always great to have! The story was Bucket, retelling my childhood feelings and confusion from a time when I had no say over my own fate. I am really hoping that this helps me live out my dream as an illustrator!
