Tuxedo cat mug

I've had quite a busy few weeks- still trying to figure out what people will buy- but cats seem a pretty safe bet *fingers crossed* so here's my tuxedo cat mug design that I'm considering getting printed soon (once I've also finished a new tea towel design). You can also like my facebook page here

Kittea greetings card

So I decided to revisit this idea, and make it more stylised like the greetings cards in my "Cheesy Biscuit" collection. My design catalogue is a good half way to completion now. Hopefully I'll get my grant, and be all set up for my first fair in August. The remaining stock I will add to my Etsy shop

'Good Luck' greetings card

Another greetings card that I've designed for my series. I've been pretty busy with planning something lately, but I am still posting! I am thinking about changing this guy's face a little...

Productive Saturday

So I did some tweaking of a card that I made a few months ago that I wasn't sure of- I think it looks much much better now, and that maybe before I was cluttering it a little too much, and it really just needed to me a smidgen simpler.

I also finished this new greetings card, which I am mostly happy with, although I'm not quite sure if I should change the colour of the eyes so that they show up more against the dark-grey heads of my penguins. All in all, mostly mostly happy. I feel like my Saturday mandate has been fulfilled.

:-) I've been meaning to blog about other stuff too... I just need to stop making excuses!

More cards

To add to this family in my catalogue. I'm trying to keep the stylisation pretty tight here. I feel that I'm just about done with these two, but a few more tweaks are necessary before I send my samples off. Fingers crossed!

Card Designs

So, I've just got back from my trip back to York (hence the lack of blogginess). I went around some shops, and Give The Dog a Bone (one of my old favourites) said that they'd probably stock my cards, so I'm rebooting with some new designs. Of course, I want to be eclectic, but most of these ones will go in a family with my Felines for You  card, to create more of a complete catalogue.
I am also reworking some of my old ideas to fit in with this style. But right now, I have plenty to do, so I'll get back to work! https://www.etsy.com/shop/KitchenCrawlies?ref=hdr_shop_menu

Illustration Friday- Airborne

I created a magpie pattern :-) I might also have another shot at a take on this later in the week (If I have time).

I've ordered them now, when I receive them then they'll be avaliable for sale on my Etsy :-)
They measure 58mm, and will be £3 each.

UPDATES

I haven't updated much here for a while- this is actually because I have been super busy writing a business plan... well... getting there... ish... and more importantly designing some more stuff! I want to expand my Etsy stock (which is basically what my business proposal is about, I want to try and secure some funding so that I can effectively buy more stock and make my shop a bit more successful than it is at the moment...) Over the past while, I've been designing a cat themed, and a thistle and heather themed pattern for fabric and mugs, which I will post on here once completed. I have also been creating designs for pocket mirrors, which are more affordable to me at the moment. Here's an example, but I have plenty more to come!

Pet

I did these screen-prints last year. I actually sold out of the ones that I wrapped at my illustration degree show... I really should have wrapped more. However, I do still have a few left over that I HOPE to move (somehow), for the time being, this week's Illustration Friday is on the theme "pet", so I might as well put it up there :-)

I really want to do some more screen printing.

Toucan do it

Illustration Friday-ish! It has triangles in it, I wanted to try a more whimsicalish loose pattern. Needs a bit more work, but we'll see to that in the morning. Good night!

Hedgehog pattern

So, I've been working on a hedgehog pattern for the past couple of days, and here it is! I have quite a few more ideas that I'd like to make a reality, and then HOPEFULLY get a business grant and I'll be able to turn them into some wonderful mugs that HOPEFULLY people will purchase on my Etsy; there's a lot of hopefullys in there. But in all seriousness, I have quite a lot of ideas, and I need to get them all done!

L is for

Lemur!
My favourite, I think, is the ring-tailed lemur. I've done a couple of versions here, mainly because I can't quite decide on the eyes, however I think that I prefer the yellow eyes. Maybe I need to play around a little bit more on Illustrator.

P is for...

Penguin! Yes, I know I've been a little obsessed as of late. This WAS/ is going to be turned into a greetings card with something cheesy along the lines of 'I'm pengu-in love with you', but I kind of wanted to play around with this graphic first. I'm actually wondering if the greetings card that I make should be an AI  rendition, or whether it's better to do the series by hand.

Penguin day! (and colour collective slipped in there too)

So inbetween my attempted political drawings (still eagerly awaiting feedback and tips from Chris Riddell), I've been trying to experiment more with animal drawings; I do quite like scribbly pencils! PLUS, it's been World Penguin Day, which is totally awesome! I've been thinking that I might make some factual colouring sheets to sell for a couple of pounds as digital downloads on Etsy... I also have another penguin themed pun idea which I will try and turn into a card design today. Greetings cards are something that I also really want to get into. It's all progress!

So I haven't posted in a while

Which is bad on me, but I HAVE been super busy.

I've decided that I'd quite like to get into political cartooning- hopefully before my bank balance runs out... I've been filling up sheets and sheets of copy paper with roughs of politicians faces )most of which I'm a little too embarrassed to post here), with the hopes of eventually capturing a likeness. I think at this point it's pretty obvious which side of the fence I'm plonked myself, but I still want to be fair in my assessment of the situation- although I have picked a side, all politicians annoy me in different ways (although some more than others). I can't stand papers like a certain tabloid that has popped up since the referendum... but I won't go down that route (it's one for a rant blog I've been meaning to set up).

ANYWAY- I emailed Chris Riddell (who has always been one of my absolute favourite illustrators/ political cartoonists), partly because I'm a cheeky little lady who wants every bit of help that she can get, and partly because, why not? I wasn't expecting him to respond (as I'm sure he's extremely busy), but he did! He even offered to look at my work and give me some pointers- I always love that- when someone who is insanely talented is actually a nice person and goes out of their way to help people; there are way too many people in this world who aren't at all like that. But yeah, it makes me feel happy when I find out that I'm a fan of someone who's worth being a fan of :-)

Ragdoll cards

So I've just ordered these designs that I've made for the Ragdoll Cat Club- hopefully they should be here soon!
I didn't pass my interview for SSF, but at least that means that the other person that applied to the post will have it :-)

Inkpril

Here are a couple of my Inkpril drawings. I've been TRYING to get one done for each day of this month, but I've been having such a busy time lately, and it's funny how time just GOES!

Colouring paper puppet sheet

Well, I told myself I'd get this stage of production done before I had any lunch, and I'm happy to say that I can go and eat now :-) (lots of smilies). After lunch I need to write the text, and then that should be that part of my presentation done. I'm really hoping that I get this internship.

Here they are coloured in and backed with card. I don't have any icelolly sticks lying around (maybe it's an excuse to treat myself...) so I used refined card. I'm hoping to get some actual children to make them for my presentation on Friday. Fingers crossed.
